Borderkiu aims to provide accurate travel time predictions using technology and valuable user feedback. We acquire traffic data from data brokers and process it through our proprietary algorithms, taking into account both current conditions and historical patterns. User feedback plays a crucial role in refining our predictions to reflect real-world conditions. Our system continually learns and adapts over time, enhancing its accuracy. With real-time updates, Borderkiu ensures you have the latest information for efficient travel planning. By combining high-quality data, user insights, and our own algorithms, Borderkiu strives to make your travel planning more reliable.

While BorderKiu strives for high accuracy in travel time estimations, there are known limitations. When a queue is just starting or ending, it can take around thirty minutes for the data to be analysed and updated to the system. This delay might result in unexpected queues. The live traffic map tends to be more accurate in reflecting current conditions at the border. We are aware of these issues and are actively working to improve the performance and accuracy of our queue estimations.

To help optimize our algorithm, we need real data from users. You can contribute by using the "joined the queue" button on the home page. When you first join the queue, press the button once. The system will monitor your movements through the queue as you cross the border crossing. After passing through both immigration checkpoints and leaving the border complex, press the button again. Your queueing data will then be sent to our servers for analysis. Your data helps us improve future queue time estimations for all users.

All of the Malaysia - Brunei borders open at 6 AM, and close at 10 PM. Sometimes the border opening times are extended during holiday periods however this information is not easily accessible. We are working with authorities to try to improve the access to information.

The E-Arrival Card is an online form required for all foreign nationals entering Brunei. Registration is free and can be done at this website using your passport, Brunei address, transport details, and email. Note, it is not a visa and entry is subject to immigration checks. The Exit and Entry System (EES) is an online service by the Royal Customs and Excise Department for vehicle pass applications to exit and enter Brunei. Requirements include a registered vehicle with a valid license, a permission letter for non-owner drivers, and a valid email account. To use the service, create an email account, register for an EES account here. The fee is BND $3 for one way (< 7 seat vehicle) and BND $6 for one enterance and one exit. If you're transiting through multiple borders of Brunei you have the option to select multiple borders valid under one pass but the cost will be greater. You need to register your vehicle with the system including engine no. and chasis no. and owner details. If you are not the owner of the vehicle you need to prepare a permission letter from the owner. You need to add in the driver and passanger details and select one as the driver. You have the option to pay online, or pay over the counter. If you choose to pay over the counter you will recieve an email with a bill reference number, show that to the customs agent and you can pay at the border or at a bank counter.

The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is an online form that must be complete by all foreign citizens travelling to Malaysia. Excempt from filling the form is: citizens of Singapore; diplomatic and official passport holders, Malaysia permenant residents and long-term pass holders, general certificate of identity Brunei (GCI) holders, Brunei-Malaysia frequent traveler facility holders. The Vehicle Monitoring System (MDAC) is a permit that travellers need to register with to enter any Sarawak border from Brunei. First you need to register HERE. After registration you need to log in HERE. After registering your vehicle, you will get a QR code that is valid for a 3 month period. The first time you enter Malaysia customs with the vehicle you need to produce your insurance, car certificate (blue card) and your passport (if you're the driver) or a permission letter from the owner. Your car needs a valid insurance and road tax to be able to cross the border.
